He is known for his economical reforms of 1991, he is known for his liberal views and canny strategies. He belongs to the minority section of the country and is the longest serving Prime Minister of the country. Yes guys we are talking about Dr. Manmohan Singh and we will discuss some facts about Dr. Manmohan Singh and the changes he hence brought to the country.

Dr. Manmohan Singh


Well he was born on 26 September 1932, in Gah, Punjab (Now in Pakistan) and he is already 81, and is a Doctorate degree holder in economics. Before serving as director of Reserve Bank of India and Governor he was working with united nation.




Fame


The biggest fact about Dr, Manmohan Singh is the fame game, which started in 1991 when he was named as finance minister of India and made many bold  structural reforms :he soon devalued rupee, changed tax slabs (Brought them down), and the famous Privatization was some of the steps he took and soon brought him in News for such actions.

Prime Minister


Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi declared Manmohan Singh and surprised everyone, (My belief is that she did it for a reason, simply put wanted someone with good image to hold up the chair, however it is rather a fact that most of the decisions are from chairperson herself).  After 2004, he was reelected as a Prime Minister.

Character


It is a known fact about Dr. Manmohan Singh that he is a listener and more of a technocrat, He maintains his calm composure for the most of the time we see him, Is also supposed to be strategic and a step by step productive person. The Independent (British National Morning Newspaper) described him as “One of the world’s most revered leaders”.

Achievements and facts


·        He is the second Prime Minister to return to power after Jawaharlal Nehru to return to power after completing a full five year term
·        Newsweek magazine in 2010 remarked Manmohan Singh as the model of what a political leader should be.
·        Forbes magazine described Singh as being "universally praised as India's best prime minister since Nehru
·        Manmohan Singh served as Governor of the Reserve Bank of India in 1983, chairman of the Planning Commission of India from 1985 to 1987 and as the Finance Minister of India in 1991.
·        Manmohan Singh was awarded Padma Vibhushan in 1987
·        He won the Wright’s Prize and Wrenbury scholarship as he was a meritious student.

·        He has done PhD from Oxford University. He completed his D.Phill from Nuffield College.
